LG Cinema 47LM6700 Review

LG continues in its quest to dominate the television market with the Cinema 47LM6700. The 47LM6700 really does bring together the best of all world by combining high end features at a reasonable price. At 47 inches, it will be a comfortable size in most living rooms. Small enough to not require a full wall, but still large enough to get a great picture and take full advantage of the 1080p resolution. Its combination of 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and LED back lighting will ensure that you get one of the most vivid and sharp pictures available on the market.

LG continues to dazzle by also including a full 3D experience. Using passive 3D technology, the 47LM6700 offers all the 3D features you would expect at an affordable price. The glasses used in passive 3D require no batteries and are more affordable than their active 3D counterparts. Passive 3D glasses don’t operate with shutters which also helps eliminate the flickering that you get with some 3D displays. To further enhance the 3D experience, this model offers adjustable 3D depth allowing you to scale the 3D effect to better suit the movie or the size of your viewing area.

While some people fear that there isn’t enough 3D content available to benefit from a 3D television, LG has you covered. The Cinema 47LM6700 actually offers 3D converting which allows you to view standard 2D video in a virtual 3D rendering. While it doesn’t work perfectly with all content, it is a unique feature that can really add some depth to your TV viewing. LG also includes HD upscaling, which allows you to watch standard definition programming with a beautiful nearly HD picture.

3D displays are also becoming more popular in video games and this television takes full advantage. With special glasses, the 47LM6700 will actually allow two players to play on the same screen without and split screen. This means both players get a full 47 inches of gameplay and don’t have to worry about their friend sneaking a peak on their side of the screen.

Taking another cue from recent video game systems, LG has scraped the cumbersome rows of remote buttons in an effort to streamlined their menu interface. Now you simply point the remote at the selection you want and the cursor follows. It’s not without flaws, but this sort of remote design could clearly have a place in future televisions and can make navigation really easy at times. Though some purists might not like the lack of buttons on their remote, it is a clever idea and most people won’t miss all those buttons.

Overall LG’s Cinema 47LM6700 is a great television. It offers a brilliant picture, a ton of features, a reasonable price, and will look nice on nearly any entertainment stand.

With the four HDMI ports you will be able to hook up all your devices and the included six pairs of 3D glasses will ensure you’re ready to entertain the family right out of the box.
